Funding Assistance

There are a number of state and federal assistance programs that can help your school or district with clean diesel projects, which can offer money for retrofitting old buses, purchasing alternative-fuel capable new buses, educating parents and the community about the dangers of diesel exhaust, and establishing “no idling” signage at and near the school.

  • Federal Pollution Prevention Grants – Regional, state, and tribal environmental assistance activities that address preventative approaches to the generation and management of pollutants across all environmental media: air, land, and water.
  • Environmental Justice Grants – Financial assistance to eligible applicants that are working on or plan to carry out projects to address environmental justice issues.
  • Environmental Education Grants – Financial support for projects that design, demonstrate, or disseminate environmental education practices, methods, or techniques. This could include funding for no idling signs.
